The Jennifer Riria Hub recently became the centerpiece of a significant institutional milestone, hosting the Echo Network Africa (ENAF) Board, management, staff, and hub tenants for a joint Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving. Presided over by the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Kenya, Rev. Dr. John Maromba, the event brought together local leaders, business partners, and the hub community to reflect on a decade of growth, resilience, and shared values since the facility’s original groundbreaking.
Running under the theme “A Community That Shows Up,” the celebration highlighted the hub’s unique position as both a premier commercial facility and a center for social responsibility. Among the notable guests was the Deputy Governor of Nakuru, H.E. Hon. David Kones, who commended the facility’s impactful regional operations. Bishop Maromba, who broke ground on the project ten years ago, delivered a moving message to the congregation, charging the hub community to ensure its walls represent deep societal values and integrity rather than just commercial shelter.
True to its theme of active community engagement, the celebration combined spiritual reflection with tangible social impact initiatives within the Nakuru region. The hub community translated its gratitude into action through a corporate outreach visit to the Holy Family Children’s Home, which provides care for more than 100 orphaned children. Additionally, ENAF partnered with the Malaysian High Commission during the event to donate a Mobile Science Laboratory to the Ngala School for the Deaf, marking the 17th laboratory deployed to advance inclusive practical science education.
The thanksgiving event also underscored the strategic role of the Jennifer Riria Hub as a pioneer model for sustainable development. By generating independent revenue through its diverse commercial and retail spaces, the facility successfully funds home-grown social programs across the continent. Deputy Governor Kones lauded this approach, noting that the hub proves commercial institutions can achieve financial self-reliance while remaining profoundly dedicated to the public good.
Dr. Jennifer Riria, President and CEO of ENAF, described the thriving hub as the manifestation of a long-term vision for institutional independence. She noted that the facility serves as the cornerstone of ENAF’s sustainability strategy, ensuring that the next decade continues to empower women, girls, and communities through sustainable infrastructure. The hub management expressed deep appreciation to the tenants and stakeholders whose daily partnership continues to drive the facility’s commercial success and social impact.
